The Hermitage Plantation Inn
With fabulous views of Nevis Peak, the historic Hermitage Plantation Inn sits amid seven acres of luxuriant tropical gardens on the slopes of the dormant volcano. Three centuries old, its lovingly restored Great House is one of the oldest in the Caribbean, surrounded in its rainforest clearing by a sprinkling of gingerbread cottages, a revitalised three bedroom Manor House, and a 17th century stone outbuilding, transformed to house two en suite guest rooms. There are just fifteen rooms and cottages in total, each individually styled with an heirloom canopy bed, antique and vintage furnishings, its own porch and/or veranda, and en suite bath and shower.
An intimate ‘house party’ atmosphere prevails, created by the Lupinacci family owners and particularly notable when the bell in the bar rings twice to announce dinner, with home-grown ingredients on the menu. The hotel has a swimming pool, tennis court and, less usually, its own farmyard, and offers trail riding, nature walks and history hikes. It is a fifteen minute drive from the golf course and Charlestown.
