Five minutes by boat from the western tip of Tortola, the private island of Little Thatch is barely a dot on the map. Cloaked in tropical greenery, it meets crystal clear snorkelling waters with a pristine white sand beach, where a peppering of palms provide dappled shade, and a pretty little beach house takes position by the shallows. This is Seagrape Cottage, with a king size hammock on its wrap-around veranda, and a toes-in-the-sand al fresco dining deck offering perfect privacy for outdoor living. So far, so castaway, but this delightful villa is disguising its attributes.
The open-plan interior has terracotta tiled floors, bleached timber walls and brightly coloured furnishings; and incorporates a kitchen area, living/dining space, romantically draped four poster bed, and a shower room. Mod cons include air conditioning, a hot tub and barbecue, and ice is delivered daily. Shops and restaurant at Sopers Hole are a short (complimentary) sail across the channel. And cook service could be added for the ultimate indulgence.
